Brown Barbet (Caloramphus fuliginosus) is split into two species, based on Den Tex and Leonard (2013): Malay Brown / Sooty Barbet occurs widely in Southeast Asia, while Bornean Brown Barbet is restricted to Borneo. :

- Bornean Brown Barbet (Calorhamphus fuliginosus)

• Caloramphus hayii detersus (Deignan, 1960)
  – S Myanmar (extreme S Tenasserim) and adjacent peninsular Thailand (S to Trang).
• Caloramphus hayii hayii (J. E. Gray, 1831)
  – Malay Peninsula and Sumatra.
